borrowed pearls

One of my two Halloween costumes.
This was the dress I wore out dancing last night.
(Above are my dancing shoes, slightly worse for wear after being trod on by many-a-clubber).
I started out with the concept of a "Gone with the Wind" gown, but that dream died along with several crinolines, and yards of tulle.

give thanks

I hate to admit it but I. Am. Full.
I've definitely had my fill of pumpkin pie (for tonight, anyways).
And my mom makes the best pumpkin pie ever, so you can trust that I've had a few slices.
Happy Thanksgiving!

mementos from barkerville

Some conventional, some less conventional photos from our trip to the historic town.
Finally a chance to showcase a bit of my obsession with photographing doors to nowhere...

trailing along

I must shamefully admit that it has been many years since last I rode a horse, fond as I am of them.
We found a ranch just across the lake that offers great trail rides,
though I am much the worse for wear (and rather saddle sore!)
This is Babe (or Babygirl to me) complete with a heart-shaped cutie mark on her forehead!

green green

Weather has been intensely beautiful here on Day Three of Green Lake.
It's a hidden beauty, about a six-hour drive from Vancouver, but well-worth it.
This is our first family trip up this way, and we're loving it.
Sky of blue, crystal waters, and no need to go anywhere, do anything we don't want to.
Ahhhhh.

Tomorrow's agenda: Trailriding!

On my playlist:
Lana Del Rey - Born to Die
Bat for Lashes - Pearl's Dream
Arcade Fire - Sprawl II
Marina and the Diamonds - I am not a Robot
Goldfrapp - Dreaming
Feist - Bittersweet Melodies
PJ Harvey - White Chalk

close of day

Sittin' on the dock (of the bay) all coy...watching the sunset
In Green Lake, in B.C.'s rustic Cariboo region.
(not spelled like the animal "Caribou").

There's this great atmosphere up here, some authentic Canadian outdoors.
(I swear I even heard loons calling).
There are lots of wide open spaces to roam, and so, so many ranches.
Seriously, there must be about 10 horses to every human up here.

tulips

I just received my Asos order, a beautiful tulip-printed Ted Baker dress.
Here are some trying-on photos.
It looks fine from the back, but the front doesn't work on my figure (curse this damned bosom).
